If you’d like to know the answer to how much does teeth whitening cost, read on. At Good Choice Dental we are committed to offering affordable and safe teeth whitening options to our patients. As such we are proud proponents of the Pola teeth whitening range, which offers in-chair and take-home teeth whitening treatments.

Why Are My Teeth Discoloured?

Have you noticed that, despite your best efforts at maintaining impeccable dental hygiene, your teeth are turning a little yellow? In the majority of cases this is a very normal part of the ageing process, and discoloured teeth is something that happens to everyone at some point in their lives.

Sure a little whitening toothpaste might sound like a good idea, but if your discolouration is happening intrinsically rather than extrinsically, this probably will have little effect. In order to brighten your smile, you need a professional whitening treatment that contains a high enough concentration of hydrogen peroxide.

A high strength hydrogen peroxide bleaching agent will be able to penetrate your tooth enamel to access the dentin beneath it. The products that are available in a pharmacy and over the counter are not strong enough to penetrate your tooth enamel.

How Much Does Professional Whitening Cost?

The cost of your treatment will be based on a number of different factors. but take-home treatments are typically cheaper than in-chair whitening. If you are in a rush to whiten your smile for an occasion or special event, we normally recommend an in-chair treatment because it achieves the fastest results.

If, however, you are happy to take a gradual approach to whitening and you are willing to wait for five to seven days before you start seeing results, then a take-home treatment will be suitable for you.

Pola Professional is our go-to in-chair whitening treatment, because it delivers results in just 30 minutes. For busy patients this is a real blessing, because you can simply dash out at lunchtime for your treatment, and return to the office.

Not only is Pola office one of the fastest-acting whitening treatments, it does this while protecting your teeth, gums and nerves from damage and sensitivity.

How does it work?

Your dentist will apply a protective barrier to your soft tissue before applying a thin layer of the high strength bleaching agent. After 30 minutes the bleach is removed. In some cases a follow up treatment is required but most patients are satisfied with their results after one session.

Pola Day And Night

For teeth whitening that costs less, Pola Day and Night are take-home whitening treatments that need to be worn for a few hours a day. Patients usually report results within five to 14 days of starting treatment.

How does it work

Pola Day whitens teeth in just 15 minutes of wear per day while Pola Night can be worn while you are asleep, so there is no change or inconvenience to your schedule.

Pola Day is available in hydrogen peroxide strengths ranging from 3% to 9.5% hydrogen peroxide. Your dentist will give you the concentration you need to achieve your desired level of whiteness in the shortest possible time frame.

Pola Night is available in hydrogen peroxide strengths ranging from 10% to 22% carbamide peroxide.

Safety First

Before you can go ahead with any kind of whitening treatment, you should have a thorough dental check up and professional clean. During this session your dentist will check for any signs of decay and address any cracked or fractured tooth enamel.

He or she will also remove the tartar and plaque build up from the surface of your teeth, to create a clean foundation for your whitening. This will also ensure a smooth whitening effect.

Pola’s professional teeth whitening agent contains fluoride to remineralise your teeth and protect against sensitivity while you whiten.

What Is The Cost Of Teeth Whitening?

Your teeth whitening treatment will be customised according to your particular needs, and your dentist will prepare a cost estimate for you. But if you need a ballpark guide, according to the results of the national Australian dental fee survey, in-chair whitening costs in the region of $260 per tooth while take-home treatments average at around $610 per treatment. These fees exclude the cost of professional cleaning.
