So, what is an implant in dentistry?

How is the dental implant procedure done?

Once the implant is successfully placed, the dentist will make an impression of the tooth in order to create a permanent crown. Depending on where the gap is in their smile, the patient may have to wear a temporary restoration for 3-6 weeks. The process is quick, usually taking less than 1 hour. The patient may need a local anaesthetic during this second recovery period.
Fitting the permanent crown
The process of installing a dental crown is simple. First, the temporary tooth is removed. The dental crown is then either screwed or cemented onto the implant and abutment.
